In a language class focusing on 中国 (China | Zhōngguó) dialects, students from different 地区 (regions | dìqū) hilariously try to 说 (speak | shuō) 普通话 (Mandarin | pǔtōnghuà) with different 方言 (dialects | fāngyán).
One student tries to 问 (ask | wèn) a question in a Sichuan accent, but his 发音 (pronunciation | fāyīn) is so off that the class bursts into laughter. Another, practicing Shanghainese, 说 (speaks | shuō) a 简单 (simple | jiǎndān) 问候 (greeting | wènhòu), but it sounds more like a Martian language.
They all try to 理解 (understand | lǐjiě) and 学习 (learn | xuéxí) the different accents, and find joy in the 交流 (communication | jiāoliú) challenges. “Speaking like a local is harder than I thought!” giggles one student as they continue their linguistic adventure in the vast tapestry of 中国 的(China’s | Zhōngguó de) 语言 (languages | yǔyán).
