An elderly man navigating a 租车 (rental car | zūchē) in Beijing’s intense 交通 (traffic | jiāotōng) looked panicked. Beside him, his wife clutched the 地图 (map | dìtú) with trembling hands.
“Watch the 路标 (road signs | lùbiāo)! Are we going the right 方向 (direction | fāngxiàng)?” she shouted.
He tried to focus, squinting at the 红绿灯 (traffic light | hónglǜdēng) ahead. “I think we turn 右转 (right | yòuzhuǎn) at the next 路口 (intersection | lùkǒu).”
“The 速度 (speed | sùdù) here is crazy,” he muttered, trying to 遵守 (obey | zūnshǒu) the 限速 (speed limit | xiànsù) signs.
His wife sighed: “Next time, let’s just take a 出租车 (taxi | chūzūchē) to our 目的地 (destination | mùdìdì).
